De la soledad y la prohibición / On Solitude and Forbidden Things

Pekín, Ciudad Prohibida, Li Jing Xuan (Pabellón del Hermoso Escenario), 19 de abril de 2014.
Beijing, Forbidden City, Li Jing Xuan (Pavilion of Beautiful Scenery), 19 April 2014.

For this is the very only desire that human beings have always cherished and kept dearest to their hearts — filled voids where there only used to be solitude, the joy of indulging in what was once forbidden for us.

Estaciones / Stations

Pekín, Distrito 798, marzo de 2014.
Beijing, 798 District, March 2014.

But you have to build that train station first. Her own, unique station.

(Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years Of Pilgrimage, Haruki Murakami)

Our own, unique station, one for each of us out there, for us to patiently wait our train there, for us to dream there that we go on a trip, that other places, days and people are waiting for us. For us to rejoice in advance at the immense joy of finding the right fate.

Sakura

Beijing, Olympic Forest Park, March 30 2014.

Beijing is blossoming into spring these days. Granted, we will have to wait until next month to get to see the parks in all their glory. Still, we spent our Sunday in some real spring fashion. Short sleeves, wet grass, vanilla' n 'strawberry ice creams, little boats in the greenish water, hands covered in soil and pollen. Bare-assed babies happily toddling in a hill, families and friends galore, enjoying themselves while making the most of the day and the gorgeous, public landscape and photographing the brand new flowers and foreigners. The very same foreigners that look at this lively street culture and happen to find a clue to their own identity and roots.

Siempre nos queda la luz / Light Never Goes Out

Pekín, Antiguo Palacio de Verano, 14 de marzo de 2014.
Beijing, Old Summer Palace, 14 March 2014.

The light shed upon the debris of everything we built is the same light that once saw us strive and fight for our creation.

Refugios / Happy Places

Málaga, 13 de febrero de 2014.
Malaga, 13 February 2014.

Days that are meant to become happy places in your heart.

Guayaba rosa / Pink Guava

At Bohemia Jazz Bar Café, books and vintage pieces and tchotchkes pile on the shelves, walls are covered with old photographs and memories and people fill the tables. Saturdays are also for the chords played by an already elderly, silent, suit-wearing pianist. According to a sign at the entrance, the show is scheduled for 11 pm, yet the pleasure plays hard to get. All eyes are on the man who, perched on a dark wood chair, sits by the counter, perhaps sipping at one of the fancy drinks from the Café's list. You know that he is about to caress the piano keys the same way you know that the snow is white or that two plus two equals four, for his steps and appearance are suitable for a disciple of Euterpe.

The waiter save for some lucky clients the tables closest to the music spell. Conversations tone down, as if following a secret sign.

Quarter past eleven. Piano jazz plays and you order a pink guava juice.
