"Nos pondremos en contacto con usted."

Conservaba la esperanza de no haber oído el móvil. No haberlo oído, a pesar de que ahora estaba aún más esclavizada a él que el común de los mortales, y al rescatarlo de su bolso y consultar la pantalla habría una nueva notificación, con una vida igualmente por estrenar codificada en sus bits.

Pero no había nada.

Con un gesto automático, accedió a las redes sociales en las que estaba para dejar testimonio de su impaciencia, de su esperanza algo maltrecha. Después consultó el periódico y su álbum de fotos virtual. Por último, desganada, volvió a las redes sociales a cosechar las primeras reacciones a su estado. 

Al sumergir de nuevo el móvil en las profundidades abisales de su bolso, se sintió un poco perdida.

¿Qué haría si seguía sin haber nada?

Perhaps she had not heard the phone. Perhaps, even though she was now even more hooked on to the phone than the average person. Perhaps she would take the thing out of her bag and check the screen, and there would be a brand new notification, with an equally brand new life encoded within its bits.
Nothing.
She went through the motions and entered the social networks to tell others of her impatience, her somewhat undermined hope. She then checked the newspaper and her photo album online. Finally and half-heartedly, she went back to the social networks to reap the very first reactions to her status update.
She dropped the phone again in the abyss of her bag and felt a little lost.
What would she do if things kept going like that?
