De la soledad y la prohibición / On Solitude and Forbidden Things

Pekín, Ciudad Prohibida, Li Jing Xuan (Pabellón del Hermoso Escenario), 19 de abril de 2014.
Beijing, Forbidden City, Li Jing Xuan (Pavilion of Beautiful Scenery), 19 April 2014.

For this is the very only desire that human beings have always cherished and kept dearest to their hearts — filled voids where there only used to be solitude, the joy of indulging in what was once forbidden for us.

Al volver / Coming Back

Granada, 22 de enero de 2014.
Granada, 22 January 2014.

He vuelto, viejo amigo.
I am back, my good old friend. Still where we first met, huh? Doing your usual thing.

You ain't seen nothing yet, honey / Amberes #1

Amberes, 3 de agosto de 2013.
Antwerp, 3 August 2013.

De tal palo, tal espina. Like father, like son.

Miradas sincronizadas. Syncronized looks.
Ambos miran a las alturas. Allá donde mi lente no llega. They both look up to the sky. Right where the lens cannot reach.

Fotomuseum - Provincie Antwerpen. Waalsekaai 47, 2000 Amberes, Bélgica.

*The English title of this post is a nod to the exhibition currently displayed in the FoMu, The Antwerp Regional Photomuseum. Just as worth a visit as the one in Rotterdam, if only way smaller and not as important. Ruud Van Empel' works are a big plus, lads. Fotomuseum - Provincie Antwerpen. Waalsekaai 47, 2000 Antwerp, Belgium.

Poesía pintada / Painted poetry

Granada, 22 de julio de 2013.
Granada, 22 July 2013.

His name is Salvador and he was quietly sat down in the shade, painting, I did not quite know what but there he was, carefully stirring a brush in a pot of fresh water, and the sweet clink against the glass sounded like summer. I was about to stop just to take a look, but finally let it go - you are not going to buy anything, I said to myself.
I went up to Plaza de la Trinidad and then down to Mesones. Salvador had turned the poles and lampposts into a street art gallery. Salvador had a clothesline full of fresh, brand new words.
He calls it 'painted poetry'. And there it is, hung in the street with colourful clothespins, in this hot month of July. Do not miss it.

Parainfernalia #3 / The Edinburgh Series #3

Edimburgo, Fringe, agosto de 2009.
Edinburgh, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, August 2009.

They smile to the camera and look like the members of a weird family of three, out for a walk together in the crowded Edinburgh streets.

The three actors are part of the cast of the Forgotten Things, the play of the British radical theatre company Red Ladder for the 2009 edition of this festival . Left to right: Ella Harris as Margot, Stephen Mosley as Philip and Lucy Hind as Lilly.

Parainfernalia (aka The Edinburgh Series now, for the sake of this here blog) was the title of my first and (so far!) only exhibition. Where? ShambalaCafé, Granada. When? Possibly circa Spring 2010. Time sure does fly.

Parainfernalia #1 / The Edinburgh Series, #1

Edimburgo, Fringe, agosto de 2009.
Edinburgh, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, August 2009.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A puff of fresh air.

He... breathes in, then holds his breath.
She... breathes out, then lets her breath go.

He & she... Two separate yet complementary beings.

Tension. Liberation.

Breathe!

Parainfernalia (aka The Edinburgh Series now, for the sake of this here blog) was the title of my first and (so far!) only exhibition. Where? Shambala Café, Granada. When? Possibly circa Spring 2010. Time sure does fly.

Stay tuned - the show has just started.
